One word – Smirkus!

We went to the Circus Smirkus show last night in Hanover. It was spectacular.

Every season, I think the show is better than the last, and this was certainly true this time ’round. This year’s theme is “Anchors Away for Atlantis”, so many of the acts have an aquatic flavor.

The clown act — spitting water, of course — was one of the very best I’ve seen. The juggling acts were great, too. I enjoyed several new acrobatic stunts: the silk act where they climbed up a ramp of the fabric was very cool.

My recommendation (duh): Go see it!

Sock Poi

I just got two pairs of sock poi from Home of Poi. They’re very attractive – the royal blue shown on the web site actually matches what I received.

The poi seem durable (we’ll see how they hold up over the summer). The best part is that they were quite inexpensive – about $6 for a pair plus $8 shipping from New Zealand!

Monday Juggling – Only one more day

  1. I went to the Marion Cross School in Norwich yesterday for the penultimate juggling club meeting. Lots of good unicycling and rope spinning.

  2. I got to try out my new sock poi, and they’re really nice. They’re from Home of Poi, who got ’em to me from New Zealand in just about 10 days (!)

  3. Only one week left in the scheduled club. But Mr. Bill says that people are free to come play at the School any time. Hope to see you next Monday at 6:30-8:00pm!

Solstice Festival – Revels North

On Saturday, 21 June (The Solstice!) I’ll be juggling at the Revels North Solstice Festival on the Green in Norwich, Vermont. Their site says:

Come sing, dance and make merry as together we celebrate the light!

  • Huge puppets!
  • Morris Dancers!
  • Mummers!
  • Candlelight!
  • Audience participation galore!

Celebrate the longest day of the year with the Summer Revels! Summer Revels is a participatory event for all ages that celebrates the changing of the seasons with traditional Revels magic and outstanding entertainment, including adult, teen and children’s choruses, large-scale puppets, drumming, storytelling, Morris dancers, Mummers, candlelight, and other magical elements that complete the mid-summer dream.

This FREE event begins at 5 pm and concludes after sunset.

I’ll be there, too, props in hand (or in the air!)
